The Assistant Vice President of Technology oversees strategic planning for, and implementation and oversight of, information technology for Yoga Alliance and its related entities.
This position is responsible for crafting a strategic approach to Yoga Alliance's information technology capability. The AVP of Technology will oversee the development, implementation, and use of technology throughout the organization, working closely with staff and leadership to assess and address user and organizational needs. Areas of responsibility include the full range of information systems, determining user requirements, recommending solutions, and leading organization-wide efforts to improve the use and successful adoption of technology.
In collaboration with senior leaders, the AVP of Technology will develop a strategic roadmap, manage both short term and long term IT initiatives, and be responsible for creating policies, procedures and best practices for IT governance. The AVP of Technology will oversee all aspects of project management including managing resources (staff and partners/subcontractors), project planning, scheduling, risk management, scope management, internal and external communications, status reporting, and resource management (internal and partners).
This position is a member of the senior leadership team and reports directly to the COO. The candidate should exhibit a commitment to quality, a strong customer service philosophy, and a track record of successfully transitioning from legacy systems, preferably in the non-profit sector.
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and motivate a team of IT professionals, both employed staff, and third-party consultants
Skilled in overseeing the design, develop and launch of varied technology projects on time and within budget
Understanding of project management methodologies/tools and development of technology life cycles
Ability to foster positive department relationships and mentorship while also providing critical feedback when necessary
Knowledge of cyber security, business continuity and disaster recovery preparedness.
Ability to stay abreast of technological trends, and provide proactive thinking and subject matter expertise to the organization
Ability to identify training gaps, and create training programs specific to the user and organization needs
Identify strategy for Yoga Alliance's technology systems and oversee subsequent implementations
Lead and drive software/platform design, selection, and implementation (on premise and cloud)
Understand needs of key stakeholders and translate those needs into technological systems that support them
Advise senior management on strategic system, platform, conversion, and integration decisions in support of business goals and objectives
Create company-wide technical policies and standards for performance (KPI, Metrics, etc.)
Drive all aspects of annual technology strategy, planning and budgeting cycles.
Facilitate, prioritize, and communicate functional, technical, and scheduling requirements of existing applications and projects
Monitor system availability and reliability including project & application specific SLAs for the business
Develop an optimal staffing model; manage vendors, consultants and internal staff associated with all IT systems
Develop and retain a high-performing team based on strengths, talents, group dynamics and business needs and provide clear direction, feedback and development to direct reports
Stay abreast of new developments in technology and processes and make recommendations to foresee problems and provide solutions for both current and future needs
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technical discipline and/or the equivalent years of business experience
10+ years of strong/current experience in the Information Technology industry.
Experience in technology outsourcing strategies, contract vendor management
Experience coordinating or implementing cloud based technologies such as Office365, Azure, AWS
Strong experience as a business-focused technology leader who has managed transformational projects utilizing technology as a competitive enabler
Demonstrated ability to energize people and teams, and make cross-functional cooperation happen.
Must have superb communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
