Manage, write, edit and publish component communications, including but not limited to E-newsletters, website content, blogs and discussion boards.
Write and produce biweekly communications for component and volunteer leaders, gathering relevant and time-sensitive information from AIA staff and other resources. Work with AIA Content Governance to ensure the E-newsletter complies with AIA editorial standards.
Manage component webinar schedule and develop tools as needed to improve outreach efforts to components. Requires proficiency in online video editing software.
Serve as moderator for multiple leadership discussion forums, curate and publish content on the leadership website, and curate and publish for chapter events on the national member website. This position will be owner of the chapter and chapter staff data in our membership database, and will initiate new staff records in the database during the new staff onboarding process.
Create and execute strategic communication plans aimed at component staff and leadership about new initiatives and resources designed to optimize their effectiveness.
Ghostwrite or edit articles, memos and emails to support national component staff communiqués to CACE.
Manage distribution lists for component communications and supervise maintenance of the CACE and Presidents’ discussion boards.
Suggest ideas to improve component communications and develop new opportunities.
Monitor component websites and social media as it pertains to components.
Work with AIA Media Relations to develop media strategies that assist components. (Example: USA Today)
Maintain and distribute Component Calendar of Events and checklist of key dates and deadlines.
Distribute calendar of key dates and events to relevant AIA departments including the Call Center.
Information Resource Management
Provide support for the development and analysis of department surveys, such as the Component Profile Survey and the All-Volunteer Component Presidents Survey.
Develop and manage internal information resources and processes to support component communications.
Manage web content for Component Connect so it is current and accurate including On Demand access to resources. Update, revise or remove content in a timely manner. Track and analyze website metrics as they relate to component communications.
Track and analyze website metrics as they relate to component communications.
Actively solicit feedback and input on the quality of the content, the usefulness and accessibility of the information platform, and the breadth of the information resources.
Assist with communications and information resources for Centers for Architecture.
Develop component/corporate partnerships as they pertain to outreach.
Manage the annual Component Excellence Awards program.
Assist on special projects as assigned and with other communications and information resources for other programs on the tea.

Considerable skill in written/oral communications, negotiation, diplomacy, team building, collaborative problem solving, conflict resolution, volunteer management, and systems/process development. Outstanding interpersonal communication skills a must. Strong writing and editorial background a plus. Ability to interact with individuals with a diverse background at all levels of the organization (volunteer leaders, members, staff, and visitors). Project management experience a plus. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills. Success in prioritizing duties, retrieving information, tracking projects and maintaining schedules. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Skill with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of HTML and website content management system is required. Skill in video editing preferred. Knowledge of Higher Logic platform is strongly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications/Marketing or related fields and three to five years of association management or related professional work experience.
Some travel required.
