Exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager of Accounting to join a well-established and financially secure trade association in downtown Fairfax. This role will report to National Pest Management Association’s (NPMA) new CFO and serve as a core member of the Finance & Accounting team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the management and operation of the financial and accounting functions of NPMA and related organizations. Responsibilities include functions associated with financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, account reconciliations, cash management, supporting the annual audit process, and other accounting duties of the association.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage accounting, finance, and budget operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliation of bank accounts, preparation of 1099’s, filing VA sale/use taxes and maintenance of the general ledgers
Prepare monthly financial statements, month-end and year-end closing, journal entries and financial reporting; including budget to actual variance analysis
Recommend and enforce internal controls, policies and procedures
Perform intercompany transactions for managed associations
Works closely with the audit firm preparing schedules and documents for the annual audit

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Required)
Minimum 6+ years’ experience in the accounting field; including not-for-profit experience
Strong understanding of Accounting Principles, knowledge of GAAP
Advanced understanding of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements
Experience with QuickBooks accounting system
Proficient using Microsoft Office with strong emphasis on Excel
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Extremely detail orientated with strong analytical skills
Good time management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple entities
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
Optional Desired Skills:
Active CPA or CPA candidate
Experience with membership databases; Aptify a strong plus
Familiar with managed associations
