The American College of Radiology (ACR) is a forward-thinking professional medical society, representing nearly 40,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical physicists. Currently, we are looking to hire a Publications Layout Designer for a 6-month temporary assignment on the ACR Press and Publications team in our Reston, VA office. The Publications Layout Designer serves as the primary designer for the organization’s flagship monthly publication, ACR Bulletin, and is responsible for the layout, typography, photography selection, and design of the periodical as well as preparing and revising proofs and preparing files for transfer to the printer on deadline.
Some artistic insight into the design and creative process for the publication is helpful, but we are primarily looking for someone who can lay out pages and make changes quickly and efficiently.

Qualified candidates MUST have:
-Bachelor's degree in relevant area, e.g., Commercial, Fine Art, or Design, from an accredited college or university; or, the equivalent combination of education and practical experience. -2-3 years experience laying out the page typography and design of a regular print publication with a firm deadline -Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite CS5 or above, particularly InDesign -Must have knowledge of photo-licensing requirements and be able to acquire permissions as necessary. -Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision required. -Keen attention to detail.
Moderate experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Familiarity with web design strongly preferred but not required.
