The role of Director of Advocacy oversees AADE’s Advocacy program including development and implementation of the Association’s public policy program, federal regulatory initiatives, and state advocacy priorities. This position builds and maintains effective relationships with AADE membership and volunteer leaders, members of federal and state legislatures and relevant departments of oversight/authority, key stakeholders, and corporate organizational partners. In conjunction/collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Science and Practice Officer (CSPO), oversees the work and direction of federal and state contract lobbyist and partners.
Provide leadership, program development, and management for federal and state policy activities and initiatives. Identify program components and strategies to achieve success.
Under the guidance of the CEO, CSPO, and relevant committees including the Advocacy Committee; provide leadership in developing overall organizational and financial plans for federal and state advocacy efforts on behalf of AADE.
In conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Communications and consistent with AADE’s communication standards, disseminate department and policy updates/reports and publicize advocacy activities.
Develop strategy and tactics to drive AADE’s Federal policy priorities and activities.
Direct and manage AADE grassroots program through the SGC network; maintaining key contacts and patient/industry/corporate relationships.
In conjunction with CEO, identify and pursue opportunities for maintaining and/or expanding the Advocacy funding base through grants, donations, and other funding sources.
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required; Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in public policy and local, state, or federal government affairs.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Experience in healthcare industry strongly preferred; with knowledge of professional associations a plus.
