As a member of the Business Development & Membership Department, the Membership Manager will support processes necessary to recruit and retain members. Provides timely quality service to active AdvaMed members and prospective members with a focus on member recruitment and retention.
Essential Duties of the Position
Directs annual membership renewal process, including developing targeted retention letters and company specific engagement activities to key membership segments
Create and disseminate member communications and update membership materials to ensure that all information is current and accurate
Respond to member and prospect calls, requests, and inquiries. Must be able to identify the needs of member and prospect organizations and clearly articulate the value of AdvaMed’s services.
Manages member and prospect information in member database. Works with other departments to ensure data is entered properly and in a timely manner. Researches domestic and international prospect data and enters contact information into membership database.
Supports the management of AdvaMed’s Associate members including communication, renewals, and fulfillment of member benefits
Manages the interactions and working relationships with APG sales reps from vendor orgs. Manages APG pipeline and monitors opportunities. Acts a point of contact with AdvaMed for members working with APG vendors.
Identifies inefficiencies in the member experience and works with VP of Business Development and Membership, Account Managers and other departments to develop effective solutions
Prepares and maintains various reports that include Membership KPIs, recruitment updates, outreach plans, retention efforts, and other membership data. Works with Director of New Member to ensure new member recruitment progresses according to plan. Works with Membership Account Manager to report on renewals and at-risk organizations.
Supports the creation of collateral, scheduling, and execution of recruiting and member fulfillment meetings. Coordinates with other departments on scheduling and planning of these meetings.
Acts as liaison to members who seek help in accessing AdvaMed staff
Coordinates membership resignation/termination process, including running participation reports and generating termination reminder letters
Maintains content and functionality of membership Web pages and online forms
Supports the development of new membership recruiting materials
Attends policy department meetings to gain knowledge of industry and track trends and activities that affect members
Oversees activities related to the Association’s membership booth at annual meetings and other events as needed
Travel Requirements: 5 - 10%
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Strong verbal and writing skills for working directly with members and prospects
Ability to edit and proofread
Ability and proven skill in taking the initiative on assignments
Ability to track multiple activities and priorities at a fast pace while maintaining focus on details
Outstanding communication skills and demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service
Excellent time and project management skills
Self-motivated, flexible, team-oriented, and independent
Ability to work under pressure as well as manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Advanced skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Skilled in Salesforce and/or CRM
Ability to use online resources and navigate the Web
Basic knowledge of accounting concepts
Design skills and knowledge of design software a plus
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's degree
Minimum Experience Required: Six plus years' experience in a membership association environment, with at least two years' experience in database management.
