The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (“CFP Board”) - headquartered in Washington, D.C.-is the certifying body for financial planning professionals. It is a non-profit organization that fosters professional standards in personal financial planning through its setting and enforcement of the education, examination, experience, ethics, and other requirements for the CFP certification.
CFP Board seeks a highly motivated team player to serve as Manager, Development, who will partner with the development team to drive fundraising and engagement efforts. The successful candidate will play an essential role in the development, and execution of fundraising campaigns and donor cultivation. Works to build and steward a growing pipeline of individual donors and corporate sponsors; collaborates on regular communications with supporters.
Conducts prospect research for individuals, corporations, and foundations; prepares prospect profiles and cultivation and engagement plans
Guides new and current donors to the organization through the development and execution of extensive stewardship plans
Manages development and CRM databases related to Center fundraising including gift processing for contributions
Manages donor communications and engagement activities including but not limited to: stewardship and acknowledgement of gifts, compilation of donor packets for use by CEO and senior staff, development of annual report content and direct solicitation of event sponsorships and annual-level gifts
Manages communications with and prepares meeting materials for the Campaign Development Committee, as well as responding to committee member requests
Collaborates closely within the Center and with the Marketing and Communications departments to update the development sections of the organization’s website and prepare donor-specific content for online and print publications
Creates custom reports to accurately manage gift processing and donor cultivation
Assures integrity of donor data and records; routinely updates donor lists
Serves as liaison with Finance Department and IT to ensure accuracy of gift/donation records and deposits
Collaborates with Finance to track and file multi-year capital campaign pledge documentation; ensures adherence to established systems/controls
Monitors check-list of and drafts interim/final progress reports for funders, and stewardship pieces
Manages special events; executes donor and prospect meetings, including managing logistics, liaising with program staff, and assisting in event follow-up with donors or prospects
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience in business or communications
Minimum 4 years’ experience in fundraising
Demonstrated ability to manage and drive a portfolio of relationships
Familiarity with giving trends and multi-channel fundraising within the nonprofit sector
Ability to research and gather information effectively from a variety of sources
High-level of interpersonal skills demonstrated in interactions with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the organization
Strong organizational and project management skills; adept at working under tight deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Expert proficiency with CRM database management, Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce and NetForum (highly desired)
Effective presentation skills, including creating polished PowerPoint decks for prospects and donors
High degree of initiative and ability to take an entrepreneurial approach
Detail-oriented self-starter and strategic thinker with high energy and the ability to work independently, accurately and on schedule
Error-free writer with strong proofreading skills and high attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and people simultaneously, and follow through on tasks in a timely manner
Ability to exercise good judgment in sharing and communicating information
Able to handle confidential and sensitive information
Ability to work and collaborate as a part of a motivated, driven team
