AACC, a DC-based dynamic international scientific/medical society of clinical laboratory professionals, seeks an experienced association management and meetings professional to serve as Director, Meetings, and provide direction and management for execution of our Annual Scientific Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo and other conferences.
This is an opportunity to be involved in the management of a global Top 100 scientific conference and trade show with 20,000 participants and a significant budget. Working with the Vice President of Education and Meetings and the Director, Professional Education; the Director, Meetings will have responsibility for all aspects of planning and implementation for the Annual Scientific Meeting and Expo including housing, exhibits, speaker coordination, hotel contracts, and conference center contracts and liaison. The Director, Meetings oversees a staff of two as well as numerous significant partner/vendor relationships. The Director, Meetings also oversees the implementation of other educational and association governance meetings during the year.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university plus 7+ years’ experience in association management and/or delivery of major meetings. Budget oversight and clear status documentation and reporting are critical elements of this position.
Position requirements include knowledge of major meetings venues, exhibitor management practices, and conference services vendors, along with a record of excellent collaboration and communication that drives success. Documented program management skills are required. Knowledge of the field of laboratory medicine is a plus.
