Conference Incorporated, a 33+-year old firm located in Reston, VA provides association, convention, trade show, special event management services to for-profit and nonprofit organizations around the region.
We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform general bookkeeping duties, including posting information to accounting software (Quickbooks and Sage50)
Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
Coordinate bank deposits and report financial results on a regular basis to management
Monitor office expenses, enter cash receipts and manage office petty cash fund
Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and balance sheets
Enter company payroll into accounting system (Payroll is processed by PayChex)
Perform reconciliations of bank accounts on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy.
Twice a month, process account payables which includes entering payables into system, cutting checks, having management sign checks and then complete the processing by mailing/distributing checks
Make sure all business taxes and licenses are paid
Obtain necessary tax forms from new vendors
Make deposits and record all cash receipts
Distribute customer invoices and ensure that receivables are collected in a timely manner
Maintain and keep up-to-date an organized and streamlined accounting system
Special projects as assigned by the president
Minimum of Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting, or relevant field
Strong knowledge of general accepted accounting principles
Five years’ experience working in accounts payables and receivables, general ledger, payroll and payroll reports
Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, QuickBooks and Sage50
Proficient at data entry
Keen attention to detail and ability to keep records and files organized
Competent collaborator and communicator
Strong time-manager with respect for deadlines
Ability to identify errors and solve problems
Decisive and critical thinker
