Search underway for the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This organization is a 501 (c) (6) association located in Reston, Virginia. The purpose of CLARB is to provide uniform standards of competency for landscape architecture practice to ensure the public’s health, safety and welfare. CLARB also prepares, administers and scores the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.), a high stakes examination for landscape architecture professionals that assesses the ability of prospective licensees to protect the public’s health, safety and welfare. CLARB's members are the landscape architecture registration boards in the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. CLARB's mission is to foster the public health, safety and welfare related to the use and protection of the natural and built environment affected by the practice of landscape architecture. The Chief Executive Officer plays a key strategic role in the growth and development of CLARB programs in collaboration with the Board of Directors. The CEO oversees an annual budget of around 4 million and a staff of 10. CLARB is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors elected by the member regulatory boards and made up of regulators/landscape architects (11) and professional board executives (1). The majority (and sometimes a supermajority) is concurrently serving on state/provincial boards and occasionally our Board members are chairs of their local groups. The Chief Executive Officer is an ex-officio member of the Board and Executive Committee.
Bachelor’s degree (relevant advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred), exceptional communication skills, emotional intelligence, financial and business acumen, and 10 years of progressively responsible senior management experience, preferably in the association context.
