The REALTORS® Land Institute (RLI), a commercial affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS®, is a professional membership organization for REALTORS® who specialize in land real estate. This role reports directly to RLI’s CEO. The Chapter and Membership Relations Manager is responsible for assisting RLI’s membership, developing RLI’s chapters, and planning/coordinating special events as needed. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of membership relations, customer service, and chapter management/development, as well as coordinating special events as needed throughout the year.
Key Areas of Responsibility Include:
Chapter Development (40%)
Continually seeks new and innovative ways to develop, revitalize, and engage RLI’s state and regional chapters in conjunction with RLI’s strategic plan. Helps organize new chapters in states/regions where there is an interest.
Develops and implements a chapter accreditation program to ensure information, education, advocacy and support programs are geared to best meet members’ needs and RLI’s strategic goals.
Serves as main liaison with chapter leaders, staying in regular contact to help orient them with their role and with best practices for chapter member recruitment and engagement, as well as hosting effective chapter meetings, events, and activities.
Works with the Education Manager to facilitate chapter education programs and initiatives.
Serves as staff liaison for the Chapter Leadership Council and works with them to plan needed training, including the annual Chapter Leader Workshop at the National Land Conference and annual orientation for new chapter leaders.
Assist chapters with creating and managing their chapter website and membership records.
Works with the Marketing Manager by creating content for the monthly chapter newsletter, for the bi-annual magazine Terra Firma, and for the Chapter Resource Center on the RLI website.
Continually seeks new and innovative ways to deliver an excellent membership experience through improved processes and procedures, including new member activation, membership renewals, and updating member profile information.
Serves as the chief point of contact for general membership questions via the 800 number and the RLI inbox regarding the organization, membership, chapters, and events. Attends to member questions, complaints, and concerns immediately and facilitates excellent resolution.
Researches prospect lists and inputs prospect profiles into database. Researches ALC Designation usage violations and reaches out to members/non-members as appropriate.
Works with the Marketing Manager by creating content for the Member News section of the bi-annual magazine Terra Firma.
Event Coordination (30%)
Serves as staff lead on special events/projects as needed. Researches and coordinates with any vendors that may be needed.
Coordinates with NAR staff on NAR meetings (including Legislative Meetings, Annual Conference, and Leadership Summit)
Works with CEO on the overall coordination of the annual National Land Conference.
Participates as a team player by supporting departmental and organizational operations. Assists with task overflow from other departments as needed.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements and skills:
Bachelor’s Degree required or at least seven years of experience in chapter development and event management.
Must have experience in a multi-level non-profit or membership organization and an understanding of the relationship between national organizations and their related chapters. Experience managing a national chapter program preferred.
Ability to travel 3-4 times per year for on-site support activities during conferences, conference planning, and professional development.
Demonstrated project management and oversight abilities. Proven ability to simultaneously manage several complex projects required.
Must be a team player with consensus-building skills and be able to work well with coworkers, members, and third parties.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and oral communication/customer service skills.
Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide follow-up in a timely manner.
