As a member of the leadership team, the Technology and Operations Senior Manager/Director is responsible for the strategic planning and visioning of the organization in addition to overall management, coordination and evaluation of the technology and operations function. This position is responsible for providing support to organization management and staff in functional areas of technology infrastructure management, ABTA technology systems, office administration, the distribution center and facilities. The incumbent is also charged with working with the management team to contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices, developing and delivering creative, cost-effective solutions in support of the organization’s strategic business plan, and enabling the organization to perform more effectively and efficiently, while managing risks. The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) (located near O’Hare) is a steadfast advocate on behalf of the brain tumor community in the U.S. where we help patients, caregivers and their loved ones.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the information technology (IT) needs of the organization, including ABTA’s applications, maintaining the systems and server, hardware/software, telephone systems, network and security.
Identify and evaluate industry trends in technology to serve as a source of information and advice for senior management. Evaluate tools and technologies, analyze user needs, and present findings to senior management on a quarterly basis.
Responsible for handling and overseeing all aspects of the ABTA’s databases, including any initial database architecture design through implementation, administration, monitoring, tuning, backup, migration and support.
Work closely with the President and CEO and the Chief Development officer to ensure database and operations support ABTA’s business strategies.
Serves and oversees in an advisory capacity and manages ABTA’s Managed Service Partner.
Facilitate organization governance with the Leadership Team.
Partners with the CEO to create, develop, implement and evaluate organizational strategy.
Oversees and manages office operations and support, including the reception area, customer service, supply management, supply inventory and usage and distribution.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field with 4-6 years of experience in non-profit database management, supporting successful fundraising, preferably in annual giving strategies, major gifts, planned giving and capital campaigns;
Demonstrated experience in managing the efforts of direct reports;
Demonstrated experience managing vendors;
A solid understand of Sharepoint, Razors Edge, Salesforce (required) and Fundraising CRM
Ability to travel up to 15% and work some evenings and weekends for ABTA events, professional meetings and nation-wide community events.
Salary is in the mid to upper $70k range
