POSITION OBJECTIVE: Provide the overall direction and management for the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture (AFBFA)
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Leadership, Education & Engagement
LOCATION: Washington, DC
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop plans and oversee initiatives to meet the board-approved strategic goals.
Hire, manage and empower staff and manage vendor relationships to ensure objectives are achieved.
Develop fundraising strategy and manage fundraising events, fund development, sponsorships and grants.
Cultivate board leadership for the Foundation by developing board members, planning engaging board meetings and providing overall board management.
Provide staff support to board committees.
Oversee, manage and delegate the development and implementation of ag literacy resources, grants, outreach and marketing.
Develop and expand partnerships with Federation program leaders, state Farm Bureau staff, Ag in the Classroom leaders and partners in the food industry.
Collaborate internally on sponsorships, corporate contributions and other fund development work.
Develop budget and collaborate with accounting team to monitor budget.
Promote all programs and projects with both internal and external audiences.
Build value, capacity and cohesion between AFBFA, American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) and state Farm Bureaus.
Support the mission and strategic goals of AFBF though Foundation efforts.
RELATIONSHIPS: Communicate with AFBF, affiliated staff and state Farm Bureau foundations on matters of direct concern. Maintain a positive working relationship with all AFBF and affiliated company employees, sponsors and vendors.
EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED:
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience with Foundations or in related work
Experience in relationship building and sponsorship development
Management and budgeting experience
Strategic, big-picture thinker with proven ability to empower staff and leverage partners to execute strategy
Passionate and knowledgeable about agricultural literacy
Knowledge of U.S. agricultural arena, its organizations and leadership
Knowledge of Farm Bureau
Job is based in Washington D.C.
Travel approximately 25-30%
