The National Alcohol Beverage Control Association, located in Alexandria, VA, was founded in 1938 and is the national trade association representing the jurisdictions that control the distribution and sale of beverage alcohol within their borders. The mission of the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) is to support member jurisdictions in their efforts to protect public health and safety and ensure responsible and efficient systems for beverage alcohol distribution and sales.
NABCA has an immediate vacancy for an HR Generalist. The HR Generalist performs duties necessary to provide substantive support for the HR department including benefits administration, claims resolution, administering cloud-based HR systems, wellness, professional development, meetings, reports, etc. The HR Generalist reports to the Director, Human Resources and Administrative Systems.
Assists the Director, Human Resources and Administrative Systems with day-to-day department functions; writes memos, reports, correspondence, etc.; administers health insurance benefits; administers cloud-based HR systems; alerts Director to HR problems or issues in a timely fashion; thoroughly researches and resolves issues.
Takes the lead in planning and executing two open enrollment meetings each year (health insurance benefits/FSA); reviews plan benefit summaries, policies, etc.; identifies plan design changes; drafts power point presentations and other resource materials; Plans and conducts wellness events throughout the year.
Follows up with brokers and carriers on employee benefit issues; processes enrollment changes for group insurance plans in a timely fashion; Identifies and resolves premium billing issues.
Administers cloud-based time and attendance and applicant tracking systems; researches and resolves technical issues with cloud-based enrollment and related websites, benefit portal, timekeeping, applicant tracking, etc.; assesses the adequacy of cloud-based systems and makes recommendations for changes or improvements appropriate for NABCA.
Curates the content of the NABCA benefit portal by selecting appropriate resources; administers the portal and works with vendors/consultants to ensure that all pages and links are current.
Reconciles enrollment changes with carrier statements on a monthly basis; processes COBRA enrollments; generates and distributes periodic employee benefit reports and statements.
Maintains monthly spreadsheets to reconcile and/or track group and voluntary benefits as requested; prepares bi-weekly spreadsheets to reconcile benefit premium deductions to payroll registers.
Compiles semi-monthly HR project/tracking metric report; maintains NABCA organization charts; updates HR forms as scheduled or requested including org charts, performance appraisal, applications, etc.
Assists the Director in researching professional development seminars and classes; maintains schedule/calendar; works collaboratively with the Office Administrator to ensure that all wellness and staff development materials and webinars are reviewed in a timely fashion prior to meetings and events.
Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable laws and NABCA record retention policy; keeps employee records up-to-date.
Adheres to project timelines; ensures that final documents are submitted for review in a timely fashion; performs special projects as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in business, economics or human resources or relevant field and a minimum of 5-7 years of substantive, directly relevant experience as an HR Generalist or HR Administrator required. 7-9 years of directly relevant HR experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Must be conversant regarding applicable compliance considerations, HR principles, practices, etc. Non-profit or association HR experience strongly preferred.
Must have a minimum of 3-4 years of demonstrated experience administering group insurance plans including compliance, online enrollment processing, issue identification, timely follow up, advocacy, resolution, etc.
Exceptional computer skills, including advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint are required. Must have experience creating fillable forms in AdobePro and Word. Experience updating org charts, creating fillable forms, dashboards, and reports, and reconciling bi-weekly payroll and benefit registers in Excel are required.
HRIS or web-based benefit portal administration experience are required. Experience administering cloud-based applicant tracking (Applicant Pro) and time and attendance systems (i.e., Replicon, Big Time, etc.) is required.
Must be articulate with excellent written and verbal communications skills. Exceptional attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills are required.
Must be proactive and resourceful'a creative problem-solver with initiative, strong time management, exceptional organizational and planning skills who can manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Must be mature, self-directed, proactive, and able to complete assignments and meet deadlines without close supervision.
Excellent judgment, discretion and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the job duties is absolutely essential.
Strong interpersonal skills, approachability, a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, the ability to learn quickly, and a passion for excellence are essential.
