Human Resources Director

The Human Resources Director serves as a key strategic business partner providing direct support to achieve business outcomes to meet strategic and financial goals. This position is responsible for the overall strategy and administration of the human resources function including compensation, benefits, onboarding/offboarding, employment and affirmative action, performance management, policy implementation, training, employee relations, wellness, and compliance.

Supervisory Responsibility This position manages all employees of the Human Resources department and is responsible for their hiring and performance management.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and bookshelves.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. AIAA’s normal work week runs from Monday through Friday and consists of 37.5 hours or 7.5 hours per day. Normal business hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The time band during which an employee may schedule to begin work is between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The time band during which an employee may schedule to end work is between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Additional information is available in AIAA’s Flextime/Work Hours Policy. This position may require long hours and weekend work.
Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of human resource experience or Master’s degree and 8 years of experience; 3-5 years in management including experience working directly with Executive Director/Chief Executive.
Competency in Microsoft Office 365 tools.
Preferred Education and Experience Master’s degree in business, human resources, or psychology preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications/Certifications SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification desirable. |
