The Membership Recruitment Manager works closely with the Director for Membership Outreach to develop and implement outreach strategies with prospective members to educate them on the value proposition of AGB membership that result in aggressive membership growth and engagement of individuals across the broad base of AGB membership.
Key responsibilities include: produce consistent monthly acquisition of new memberships to meet all goals and expectations established by senior leadership and with the support of the Membership Experience Team, outreach to members and non-members, management of and reporting on recruitment projects, develop and implement comprehensive membership-recruitment campaigns, and build rapport and lasting relationships with prospective and current members to maintain a referral base and retain members.

• Work in coordination with the Director of Membership Outreach on the management of effective and efficient membership-recruitment campaigns and in collaboration with other AGB staff members, including those in strategic communications and marketing, programs, events, consulting, and other departments. • Oversee the onboarding and outreach to new members and coordination of ongoing communications with members, prospects, and lapsed members to ensure the membership value proposition and messages are relevant and compelling across all membership segments and other key demographics. • Identify creative ways to promote membership benefits/perks such as print ads, e-newsletter blurbs, video, articles, social media, etc. • Provide recommendations for recruitment and retention strategies based on trends. • Serve as a strategic partner to the Director for Membership Outreach on new initiatives and membership growth opportunities. • Assist with development and reporting on the monthly and quarterly on membership data that analyze market share and opportunity overall and by sector; growth and loss trends; recruitment of new members; non-renewals; and members in retention process. • Manage other membership projects as determined in support of membership program objectives. • Serve as a central point of contact for key higher education administrators representing institutional and organizational prospective members. • Assume other duties, as assigned.
Requirements and Skills
• Undergraduate degree or minimum of five years of relevant work experience in a membership role required. • Experience in association membership development, growth, and retention programs or related functions required. • Experience working with board members and institutional or public-university foundation leaders (presidents, chancellors) preferred. • Experience with data management, member communications, sales, development and retention programs. • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills required. • Excellent organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented and strong multi-tasking ability, often with tight and/or changing deadlines. • Strong writing and editing abilities, with the capacity to quickly shape effective, professionally sound messages to a variety of audiences. • Knowledge of/interest in higher education sector preferred. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of information, including the ability to organize and analyze large amounts of data. • Proficiency with member management systems desirable but not required. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications and Adobe Creative Suite. • Comfortable to work collaboratively in formal teams and informal working groups, as well as independently. • Availability for limited travel, as needed.
