We have a great career opportunity available for a Research Manager to join our team of Association Professionals.
The Research Manager works collaboratively with the Executive Director to support and manage high impact research initiatives, activities, research projects, and research functions. The Research Manager will provide analysis on state government operations, will engage with members to develop innovative research programs, will oversee association-produced deliverables, will outreach with external stakeholders and assist with professional development of members. Research, write and develop work products and committee deliverables (white papers, executive summaries, survey reports, online resources, requests for proposals, etc.) relevant to the association, its members and stakeholders
Conduct independent research on state inquiries, emerging issues, and association priorities
Serve as the point of contact for NASCA research projects and partnered programs
Support committees and work groups in fulfilling their purposes/charge, achieving objectives, communicating information and developing work products
Review and analyze information from a range of sources and synthesizes that information to determine the relevance and effect on the association, members and stakeholders.
Research and identify innovative programming and initiatives in state government operations and synthesize details to be shared with members.
Develops industry knowledge and stays abreast of changes and key issues affecting the association’s membership.
Responds to association inquires and requests for information with knowledgeable, developed, and articulate responses.
Represent the association with strategic partners, as needed, on external committees and at conferences, meetings and on conference calls; plan/participate in briefings and outreach on key issues.
Develop and foster partnerships with key association contacts, sponsors, and partnerships.
Provide a high level of customer service and monitor and respond timely to all member inquiries and requests (phone, email, web form)
Work independently as an individual contributor requiring little supervision/oversight but also have the ability to work collaboratively as a strong team player.
Are you Qualified?
Bachelor’s degree required in public policy; public administration, communications or other related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Five years or more experience within state government, or a not-for-profit association or in a related industry, such as local government or public administration,
Knowledge of research methodologies and best practices in applying the research of others.
Demonstrated experience writing government and/or association related research reports, white papers, summaries, blogs, etc.
Excellent time management skills – ability to organize and manage multiple projects/priorities.
Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment within expected deadlines and budgets.
Demonstrated superior level of customer service and time management.
Proficient knowledge of Office 360/SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suites.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong oral and written communication skills.
Self-motivated to find and offer solutions to problems
Flexibility to accommodate the schedules of association leaders will be essential.
The position will require availability for some evening and weekend meetings and occasional travel for conferences and board events.
