The American Society of Nephrology (ASN)—which represents more than 21,000 physicians, scientists, nurses, and other health professionals dedicated to leading the fight against kidney diseases—seeks a full-time KidneyX Program Associate.
KidneyX is a strategic program for the society to accelerate innovation in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney diseases. Recognizing the significant challenges facing the more than 850 million people worldwide with kidney diseases in the current paradigm of care, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and ASN established KidneyX in 2018 to spur the development and commercialization of disruptive innovations in kidney care through a series of prize competitions, intended to shine a light on unmet needs for people with kidney diseases and catalyze investment in promising early-stage companies, among other creative strategies.
The KidneyX Program Associate supports KidneyX by providing back-office operational and logistical support. This responsibility includes supporting logistics for developing, executing, and closing out prize competitions, entrepreneurship and educational projects, and outreach and communications. KidneyX’s team culture resembles that of the start-up community that it serves, thus the ideal person for this role would be comfortable working in a fast-paced and fail-fast environment.
Supports operational and logistical needs of KidneyX prize competitions, projects, and initiatives.
Supports the KidneyX Senior Program Coordinator with drafting KidneyX prizes, based on input from subject matter experts. Supports the execution of workshops to finalize prize designs.
Participates in KidneyX Steering Committee and other meetings between ASN staff team responsible for research, discovery, and innovation and external experts by preparing meeting materials and recording minutes of the discussion.
Provides logistical support for KidneyX meetings and events.
Supports the development of official KidneyX materials and website content, including public-facing documentation of rules and processes, communication and marketing collateral, and standard operating procedures.
Collaborates with the ASN marketing and communications staff team on outreach and communication requests to external ASN communities.
Supports the direct communication via the KidneyX email inbox and calendar.Assume other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. Skills and Experience
Experience planning and coordinating workshops and seminars, particularly those held in a virtual and web-based format.
Experience with HTML or other website management software strongly desired.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with internal staff, external experts, and other stakeholders.
Excellent attention to detail for developing and disseminating meeting materials in a timely fashion, including pre-meeting background documents as well as minutes and discussion notes highlighting critical action items and decisions.
Strong organizational skills reflecting ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks across and within teams seamlessly.
Highly resourceful team-player with the ability to be effective independently.
Passion for the start-up and entrepreneurship environment.
Bachelor’s or other advanced degree with 3+ years of equivalent experience.
