This position is responsible for focusing priorities and leading the implementation of imperatives that align with NAPABA’s strategic plan—specifically the pillars of membership engagement and community. This position serves a critical role in strengthening the sense of community, belonging, and inclusion across our membership; investing in pipeline development through student engagement; enhancing the operational effectiveness in membership acquisition and marketing; and engaging and supporting a broad network of NAPABA committees, affiliates, and national associates. This position requires strict attention to detail and analysis using data to make informed decisions and strong project management skills.
The ideal candidate must be member-focused, have an intricate understanding of member-based organizations and the legal landscape. They must be an effective communicator and have a keen ability to cultivate meaningful and strategic relationships. The position relies heavily on strong, collaborative relationships with staff members and stakeholders to effectively communicate NAPABA’s value to members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the Membership Coordinator in an effort to nurture their skills and talents in advancement of department goals/priorities.
Operational oversight and management of the membership department to include project management, membership database administration, tracks and analyzes membership reporting.
Develop and oversee ongoing member recruitment, engagement, onboarding, and retention plans.
Develop and oversee membership marketing campaigns and work directly with Communications team to develop graphic assets and collateral.
Work with senior staff to strategically evaluate and propose a plan to optimize the membership structure that communicates value to direct members and affiliate organizations.
Work with senior staff to set and monitor membership goals and strategic plan objectives.
Lead initiatives directed at fostering and enhancing a sense of community for members.
Cultivate and optimize relationships with committee and network leaders to bolster their efforts as volunteers in service to the membership.
Manage affiliate organizations as an entity by cultivating relationships, and promoting and overseeing administration of services and resources available through NAPABA.
Manage the relationship and administration of programs and activities with external partners, such as the American Bar Association, that provide direct value to NAPABA members.
Develop and manage the membership revenue and expense budgets and monitor performance and projections.
Demonstrate sound fiscal judgment in the use of all NAPABA resources and offer cost-saving alternatives.
Optimize the department for future growth by instilling best practices and standard processes and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Reports directly to the Operations Director. Consults and collaborates with the Programs and Events and Advocacy teams in alignment of efforts that bolster the member value.
Has a degree in business, management, communications, or a related field and five to seven years’ experience with an association or non-profit.
Ability to interact positively and effectively with a variety of audiences using written, verbal, and nonverbal communications.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Able to operate at the both the strategic and tactical level, with strict attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize workday.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong business acumen and ability to use good judgment, work independently, accurately, and efficiently.
Experience with YourMembership management platform and/or other membership databases.
Willingness to learn new software platforms as needed.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteer leaders, members, and the public.
Excellent computer literacy and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
SALARY & BENEFITS
$70,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience. Full-time employees are entitled to participate in our employee benefits program in accordance with our policies and after meeting any applicable eligibility requirements.
