General Summary: The Analystconducts market research and analysis to support AMTA business decisions as well as providing research that is used for content in articles, fact sheets, web pages or other communication platforms. The Analyst also participates in ongoing business development efforts through new idea generation, analysis of new opportunities, writing of business plans, project management of development opportunities and management of certain product lines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Key staff person involved in survey development. This would entail survey creating and question writing, determining sample, sending surveys out in different formats, analyzing results and communicating results to appropriate stakeholders;
Conducts primary and secondary research to support ongoing analysis of AMTA’s current portfolio of programs, products and services (PPSs), the evaluation of new ideas entering the development process, and information needed for PPS-related business decisions while working closely and collaboratively with staff in other departments. Takes lead on several research projects;
Works with all departments on an ongoing basis to assist them in the research process by identifying information and research objectives, determining secondary and primary research methods, developing and testing research questionnaires, and implementing, tabulating, analyzing, reporting findings and recommending a course of action;
Conducts primary and secondary research to support association marketing and communications such as fact sheets, social media posts, association reports and advertisements;
Evaluates and recommends new tools for performing database segmentation, data mining, primary research and secondary research. This would include processes to improve workflow, as well as software to perform new functions;
Develops and reports data needed for AMTA and departmental measures to ensure each department has the information it needs to complete the measurement matrix;
Supports and/or manages aspects of the AMTA business development process including the recognition of new opportunities and generation of new ideas, development of business plans for board approved programs, products and services, and implementing business plans that are approved by the BOD or internal staff;
Assists other departments with the development or modification of existing products, programs or services by providing support in vendor selection, budgeting, project management, user testing and other means before and during launch;
Manages product lines as need during launch or after;
Works with vendors and potential vendors to get bids or RFP’s for research and development work and assists with annual budgeting process for the department;
May assist in certain aspects of the management of the AMTA insurance program;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience creating surveys, including creating questions, selecting appropriate scales, and determining sample;
Must have strong statistical and analytical skills, with knowledge of descriptive and influential statistics. Ideally have knowledge of online survey tools such as Survey Monkey or others;
Experience working with others to define informational needs and devise user friendly report solutions to satisfy informational needs;
Must have experience and knowledge about survey creation including question and scale development;
Experience in gathering qualitative date through focus groups, one-on-one interviews or other means;
Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting priorities and informational needs as this business continues to grow for the association;
Have a thorough working knowledge of databases, in order to operate AMTA’s membership database as needed, and be able to create queries and run reports;
Strong project management skills including attention to detail and follow-through skills, as well as ability to manage several projects at once;
Must be a team-oriented person who can share information, goals, opportunities, success and failure with the appropriate parties;
Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently with little review, and who understands the need for detail in the midst of work being done within a much larger picture;
Possess excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with at least 5-7 years experience, preferably in market research
Computer literacy, specifically with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ideally be familiar with database reporting and querying.
This position may require travel and some evening and weekend hours.
