The Member Engagement Manager is responsible for developing and executing a strategic plan to foster and increase member and volunteer engagement and experience at all levels of the organization. This position manages the multi-channel approach to supporting our members and volunteers to deliver the value of membership effectively. This includes strategic leadership for existing volunteer leaders and development of strategies to increase volunteer and member involvement at all levels of ENA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops a comprehensive member and volunteer engagement plan that includes multi-channel communication strategies to drive engagement and awareness of ENA member benefits and the value of ENA for our members. Participates in cross-functional organizational teams to further the implementation of this strategy across all relevant ENA initiatives.
Regularly monitors the success of current engagement programs, identifies opportunities for improvement, and provides periodic reporting insights to the team.
Oversees the process for ENA calls for volunteers, including opportunity requests, application collection and review in coordination with group staff liaisons, and engagement tracking. Reviews the process regularly to recommend and implement improvements.
Manages the strategic relationship between ENA and its State and Chapter Leaders and the International Advisory Council to foster effective engagement of existing volunteers and support their work engaging all our members. Oversees annual compliance process and leads the Volunteer Engagement Strategist and our Finance Team to ensure successful collection of required documentation and timely distribution of assessments.
In partnership with the Director of Member Engagement and the International Business Manager, fosters and develops inter-organizational relationships and affiliations with nursing-related organizations to strengthen the value of ENA among identified segments of our membership, including U.S. and International opportunities
Supports volunteer effectiveness and leadership competency through strategic development of volunteer management tools, materials, and trainings based on identified needs and constituent feedback with the support of the Member and Volunteer Engagement Specialists. Manages the training of local state council and chapter volunteers virtually, in-person, and during Leadership Orientation.
Oversees the maintenance of engagement technology (i.e., ENA’s online communities) and engagement presence on our website and recommends changes based on needs and future strategy.
Leads the growth strategy, and ongoing oversight of an online mentor program in partnership with staff and volunteer stakeholders.
Manages the budgets for member engagement and volunteer relations including annual budget development and periodic forecasting.
Empowers employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegates responsibility and expects accountability and regular feedback.
Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities. Collaborates with Human Resources for recruitment, retention and performance management of staff.
Leads in a manner that is consistent with the association’s culture statement and emphasizes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Displays a high level of accountability, taking responsibility for individual actions and the impact on the organization. Views oneself as a reflection of the organization by following through on commitments and accepting ownership.
Performs additional related duties as required or assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 5 years of related experience
Organizational experience in sales, membership, or community engagement
Project management experience
CAE or relevant organizational and/or project management certification
Team Lead/Managerial experience
Association or nonprofit experience
Volunteer management experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent collaborative communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills, and presentation skills
Strong time management, excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize multiple and varied tasks within established deadlines
Excellent problem-solving ability and an ability to exercise a high level of discretion and independent judgment
Self-starter, team-oriented, and ability to work independently
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite of products
Ability to interface with staff, BODs, and external relationships in a professional manner
Ability to create data-driven solutions
Knowledge of customer relationship management systems
Knowledge of virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, WebEx or GoToMeeting
Experience working with association management systems, Abila Netforum preferred
Experience working with online community platforms, Higher Logic preferred
Experience with content management systems and basic HTML a plus
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Usage of a computer terminal and keyboard equipment is up to 85% of the time.
Majority of work is performed in a general office environment. Position occasionally requires availability for extended hours to perform job duties. Approximately 15% travel required.
