The Development Associate is critical to the development department’s success in meeting DC-CAP’s philanthropic goals. The Associate will be responsible for data management, fundraising operations, prospect research and donor stewardship.
Duties & Responsibilities
Administer the Development Department’s usage of our CRM database including record maintenance and data entry
Support the Development Department’s financial and gift processing systems, including prompt data entry of projections, pledges, and gifts received, tracking donor correspondence, and generating gift acknowledgment letters
Maintain departmental files, documents, and procedures
Assist in the in-house logistical planning of special events (including managing guest list, supporting registration, and coordinating production of materials)
Draft, edit, and/or proofread a broad range of materials for current and prospective donors
Leverage an array of tools and resources to conduct research and create profiles on prospective individual donors
Support special projects as needed
Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
2 years of experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization
Experience with or interest in learning tools such as CRM and Excel
Aptitude for conducting research, gathering data, analyzing information, and preparing reports and other materials.
Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Established in the Fall of 1999 by major Washington-area corporations and foundations, DC-CAP is a privately-funded nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging and enabling DC public high school students to enroll in and graduate from college.
