This position fits a candidate with an entrepreneurial spirit to match the vibrant and growing craft spirits industry. Our trade group represents small businesses who have entered the craft movement. Because the industry is fairly young, our association has the power to help shape this business sector, while supporting the multiple suppliers from cooperages to still manufacturers to ingredient providers to bottlers. No one day is alike so if you're looking for routine, this position isn't compatible. Incorporated in 2013, we'll soon be reaching a decade milestone and seek the right candidate to add new energy to our small, dedicated team. The right candidate will work in unison with the Chief Executive Officer to lead strategic initiatives toward building a strong, engaged membership and helping shape the craft spirits industry for long-term growth and sustainability. The COO will provide day-to-day operations oversight and direction in the use of financial, human, and technology resources to effectively and efficiently accomplish nonprofit goals and enhance organizational capacity and performance.
Masters in Business Administration or equivalent work experience
Minimum five years association or nonprofit experience, including several years at a senior level management
Demonstrated leadership in development, strategic planning, and operations management, including familiarity of legislative grassroots advocacy
Entrepreneurial acumen for managing multiple business operations with a strong ROI orientation
Strong ability to provide business needs analysis
Proven record of managing virtually with ability to keep employees and volunteers engaged and motivated to deliver results
Experience with a national PAC, with filings a plus
Clear history of program/project/resource development and management
Encapsulates results driven, team-oriented, and individual/organizational capacity builder
Shows history of working with committees and volunteers
Excellent communication, interpersonal, marketing, and diplomatic skills
Knowledge of technology drivers for leveraging communications for membership growth
Passion for small business manufacturing with enjoyment of craft spirits a big plus
