Reporting to the CEO, this role will lead the development and delivery of a strong curriculum of professional development programs for ACNM members. Principal focus will be developing high-quality interactive learning experiences for in-person, virtual and hybrid programs and courses for a clinical caregiver audience. Working closely with subject matter experts, volunteer member committees, staff content leads and other stakeholders, the Director of Education will oversee all phases of program and course design using best practices from learning sciences, instructional design, learning technologies and project management to deliver exceptional quality programs and courses.

Supervises the Meetings and Online Education Specialist and the Education Coordinator
Essential Job Duties:
Lead market research and needs assessments to identify customers’ needs and preferences for future programming, in the context of the current and evolving market landscape.
Conduct sessions with strategic member committees, staff content leads and subject matter experts to develop learning strategies, course designs and outlines and assignments for team members, and to determine content, designs and learning methods that meet both educational and business objectives.
Oversee the development and execution of new & existing in-person, virtual and hybrid courses and programs; evaluating and recommending updates or sunsetting existing courses and programs.
Develop and maintain a new content roadmap with input from staff and SMEs.
Recommend, design, and monitor measurements of the effectiveness of learning initiatives and their adoption and success with member audiences. Evaluate and interpret the results of these measures and plan effective responses to them.
Manage and facilitate the professional growth of 2 direct reports.
Recruit and manage subject matter experts.
Provide input during budget preparations and managing approved program budgets.
Proactively engage in external research, and knowledge sharing to stay current on on-demand, digital learning and development and learning curation trends and best practices.
Familiarity and knowledge of medical CE certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Training & Development, Adult Learning, Project Management, or equivalent practical experience. Advanced training or education (e.g., a Masters in Instructional Design or Adult Learning) would be a bonus.
10+ years of experience in planning professional development programs and knowledge of effective adult learning and development methods is required. Especially valuable will be direct experience in the development and implementation of healthcare professional development curricula and educational or development plans for adult learners. Prior experience with these topics in other professional association or university settings would be extremely helpful.
Strong familiarity and experience with online and on-demand courses, educational providers, and the experience of using these services. Knowledge of digital learning tools and the ability to select teaching methods appropriate for industry and audience.
Experience working with subject matter experts and program stakeholders to design curriculum and learning programs for a curriculum.
A track record of fearless innovation, generating and vetting ideas and conducting experiments.
Outstanding time management, organizational, and communications skills, with ability to facilitate and participate in a “team” environment within and across departments.
