The Manager, Governance and Strategy is a critical member of the Executive Office team, supporting governance and strategy functions to ensure efficient and effective operations. This is a full-time opportunity for an energetic individual with excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience prioritizing tasks and supporting diverse teams. In collaboration with the Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives and the Director of Governance, this position will support organization-wide initiatives, including tracking and reporting strategic priorities, and manage governance operations, timelines and deliverables and other related activities including the committee selection process, governing documents, and committee staff liaison communication/training.
This position in a newly created position to optimize the governance and strategy operations to support the expansion and growth of the organization. The incumbent must be able to see the big picture and have a hunger to develop and build more efficient governance frameworks and workstreams to effectively align governance operations with strategy planning to execute our strategic goals. Successful candidates will be highly organized with a systems thinking mindset, and a proactive approach to optimize processes and communication channels.
What you’ll bring to the job:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years non-profit governance experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Demonstrated understanding on non-profit governance and board of directors’ operations.
Strong organizational and project management skills with an eagerness to develop efficient workstreams. Must have a can-do attitude and comfortable in a fast paced and dynamic environment with the desire for continued learning and growing.
High degree of professionalism dealing with executive and nonprofit leaders.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
Expertise with Association Management Systems or other database applications.

What you’ll own:
In collaboration with the Director, Governance, and Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives help develop agendas, reports, and presentation materials for Board meetings and CEO.
Manage a coordinated and cohesive approach to the committee appointment process, including but not limited to assisting the president-elect in research for appointment process, lead the staff in coordinating the process and gathering input from the staff liaisons and committee chairs, communicating appointments and sunsets, updating information for the website and in the AMS, sending all appointment letters, creating and maintaining an updated roster in the database, and scheduling chair/co-chair orientation calls.
Oversee the flow of information between the Board of Directors and committees by collaborating with senior leadership and staff teams.
Support maintenance and updates to the governance framework, including developing, updating, and reviewing governance documents and monitoring compliance with requirements in framework.
Develop process and framework for monitoring the collection, implementation, and communication of annual committee workplans, including supporting the Chief Membership and Diversity Programs Officer to manage the integration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion priorities and coordination with organization-wide strategic priorities.
Facilitate the flow of information, ensuring key information is disseminated to staff and member leaders.
Work closely with senior staff to assist various workgroups, committees, and task forces; manage process and coordination to support staff liaisons.
Develop and maintain committee training and educational materials explaining committee roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes for both staff liaisons and committee chairs.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiencies; proactively seek feedback to streamline processes or explore creative solutions.
Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously and proactively; anticipate issues and opportunities and follow through on projects to successful completion, often with competing deadlines
Support and enhance the objectives of the Executive Office to ensure effective alignment and execution.
Collaborate with the organizational enablement team in the development of staff resources and training to support processes for strategic cross-functional projects, OKR methodology, and Smartsheet platform.
Support the execution of special projects to advance organizational goals and objectives.
Collaborate with the planning, development and execution of new board member and committee chairs on-boarding program.
May provide additional governance support in the development of a governance polices and procedure manual.
