Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Senior Director for the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) & DEI effort is responsible for partnering with the Senior Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), to develop the framework and strategy of an effective member-facing women’s leadership program. This position will execute the WLI program in tandem with broader DEI initiatives. The Senior Director WLI will research, monitor, and report workforce trends as they impact women’s leadership initiatives and implement new research into programs and practices which support this vision.
The Senior Director will schedule, coordinate, and run Women’s Leadership events, integrating WLI’s into existing ABA conferences and events-- Annual Convention, Washington Summit, Conference for Community Bankers, Summer Leadership Meeting, CFO Exchange-- while developing flagship events as needed. The Senior Director will formulate and leverage partnerships with organizations and state bankers’ associations, to further develop the Women’s Leadership Initiative and expand its message across the banking industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a Women’s Leadership Initiative strategy in partnership with the SVP, DEI and other stakeholders.
- Develop and execute programs, content, and initiatives:
- content planning and development for the Women’s Leadership events
- Women’s Leadership programming to address the “broken rung”
- leadership development for women, with a special focus on women with intersectional identities
- recruitment and hiring initiatives for female identifying candidates in the banking industry
- promotion/succession transparency within banks
- coordination with state associations for stand-alone events
- integration of the Women’s Leadership Initiative throughout ABA
- Develop a communications strategy for WLI to our bankers in collaboration with Marketing and Communications.
- Source and develop relationships with 3rd party providers and state associations with a focus in the space to develop webinars and regional events providing online training content through ABA’s Leadership Management System (LMS).
- Collect, track, analyze, and maintain data related to women in the banking sector to provide proactive reporting to senior leadership.
- Support the member-facing DEI strategy and functions.
- Other duties as assigned by business need.
Requirements:
- 6-8 years’ experience managing one or more DEI or women’s advancement programs
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender and Women’s studies or related field preferred or commensurate experience
- Experience in program and content development
- Strong communication and facilitation skills required, experience facilitating webinars or training preferred
- Collaborative work/leadership style. Demonstrated agility to adjust programs and initiatives using data driven insights
- Experience working in trade associations or within the finance industry preferred
- Project or program management experience strongly preferred
- Ability to travel to events as required (approx. 20%)
