The National Association of Conservation Districts is seeking a Finance and Administration Specialist that will be responsible for managing general ledger accounting, financial reporting, grants management, auditing, and payroll. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Finance and Administration Specialist will have the following duties:
Support COO and independent auditors on the completion of the 990 tax returns upon the completion of the annual A-133 audit
Responsible for monthly financial close which consists of bank reconciliations, investments, fixed assets and all other related general ledger account reconciliations
Oversee and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Aid in the creation of the annual operating budget
Provide and analyze weekly cash flow report for management
Process bi-weekly payroll and work with COO on any payroll?updates
Manage all grant award financial tracking
Prepare quarterly grant reimbursement requests
Work with Director of Membership to reconcile membership quarterly
Assist with meeting registrations reconciliation as well as on-site meeting registration
Collaborate with COO?to support Finance Committee and Audit Committee
Ensures the integrity of accounting and payroll information
Perform other duties and participate in special projects as assigned
3+ years of accounting experience
B.A degree or equivalent work experience
General understanding of General Accounting Principles
Experience with QuickBooks (desktop version) preferred but not required
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and the ability to reconcile large transactional files (pivot tables and vlookup experience preferred)
Independent critical and analytical thinker
Great time management and organizational skills
Experience with non-profit accounting
Willingness to work as part of a team and be responsive to staff questions and requests.
Location: This position is located at NACD’s headquarters office in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Currently, NACD is operating on a hybrid working schedule with two days in office and three days working from home.
