TITLE: Manager, Corporate Relations
REPORTS TO: Director, Corporate Relations
SUMMARY: Responsible for working collaboratively to seek funding for AGA programming and submit proposal documents; develop prospecting tools; manage relationships with pharmaceutical and med/tech device companies; develop and disseminate department reports; manage contract approval pathway; liaise with other departments to ensure smooth transition of funded programs to program managers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead fundraising for designated AGA programming, meeting pre-specified fundraising goal per program
- Develop fundraising plan that includes levels of request, funder benefits, additional sponsorship opportunities
- Work with colleagues to develop all grant request materials including proposal, letter of request, budget and other documents as needed
- Collaborate with staff to create fundraising-specific marketing collateral, as appropriate
- Develop and manage grant submission or sponsorship request plan including prospect list, timeline, communication with grant offices or other contacts as appropriate
- Manage staff completing grant submissions, ensuring target timeline is being met
- Initiate kick-off of programs, once funding is received. This includes bringing together all staff that are involved in the implementation of the program.
- This includes initiating the program in WorkZone or some other project management system to ensure smooth kick off of program.
- Steward funds received by fulfilling all benefits funders are entitled to
- Complete grant reconciliations at close of program, ensuing budget actuals and outcomes report are accurate
- Initiate and complete requests for support and reconciliations through pharmaceutical and device company online grant submission portals in a timely manner.
- Create and build upon established relationships with grant office industry contacts
- Identify main and secondary contacts within grant offices
- Establish regular communication via email and phone to share AGA priorities and learn about industry’s priorities
- Serve as main point of contact for intelligence gathering and internal dissemination of compliance guidelines, management trends, operations and innovative program design, etc.
- Become an expert in GI diseases for which AGA seeks funding
- Develop materials used during corporate visits including PowerPoints, background documents, travel itineraries, and other documents as needed
- Nurture relationships with medical education communication companies (MECs)
- Work in partnership with education to develop collaborative relationships
- Negotiate AGA’s fees and costs associated with programs
- Work closely with MEC to oversee proposal development and submission process
- Initiate reconciliation of grant at end of program
- Develop, refine and analyze data gathered from department reports and databases
- Regularly update and verify accuracy of and run reports to analyze department revenue tracking report
- Determine appropriate information to include and complete quarterly fundraising dashboard; meet deadlines for inclusion in governing board materials
- Share outcomes of analysis and trends identified with AGA staff
- Serve as liaison to Finance department
- Communicate regularly to ensure accurate reporting across the organization
- Implement ant refine standard operating procedures for receiving, tracking and reconciling funding
- Communicate and give presentations clearly and confidently to internal and external audiences of varied backgrounds and experiences.
- Initiate a collaborative environment where teamwork, collegiality and self-motivation are necessary for success.
- Establish relationships with a broad range of staff, partners and other stakeholders; communicate effectively in a variety of ways including, in person, on the phone, in virtual meetings and by email.
Qualifications:
- Two to five years’ experience in fundraising and/or business development.
- Experience with medical associations and/or CME grants preferred.
- Organized approach to work, with the ability to prioritize work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Clear and professional written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to quickly incorporate complex information and implement it in daily practice.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly document processes and specifications and maintain versions of said documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in program management software a plus.
- Proficiency and experience in customer service with high standards of timeliness and responsiveness.
- Disciplined self-starter who is confident, communicative, organized, and reliable.
