NACAS, the leading organization supporting all campus services, is seeking a strategic leader to serve as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer. Founded in 1969 as the National Association of College Auxiliary Services, NACAS is a professional trade association that supports the non-academic segment of higher education responsible for generating business through a diverse array of campus services that students need and value – such as food services, bookstores, housing, and transportation. NACAS comprises four regions – Central, East, South, and West – which exist to deliver localized value to members and Business Partners through opportunities to learn, connect, and collaborate.
The Chief Sales & Marketing Officer is responsible for the oversight and strategy of all business development, marketing and communication activities that support NACAS, the NACAS Foundation, and the NACAS Regions (Central, East, South, and West) to achieve NACAS’ overall revenue goals of approximately $3 million. This position reports directly to the NACAS CEO and is responsible for the delivery and execution of strategies to support and grow sponsorship, exhibiting, and registrations within NACAS activities that ensure that the organization meets its financial objectives.
This is a fully remote position that will be required to travel as business requires, and to periodic team offsites. Responsibilities - Business Development
Ownership of the business partner sponsorship program throughout the entire Association.
Responsible for selling and managing all exhibit booth sales at C3X Annual Conference & Expo.
Collaborates with the C3X Annual Conference & Expo planning team to provide direction and support for the C3X expo and exhibitors at the C3X expo.
Develops and implements a strategic sales & marketing strategy and provides ongoing insights and metrics related to registration and exhibiting activity.
Develops and implements a strategic sales strategy and provides ongoing insights and metrics related to business partner sponsorship.
Works in partnership with third-party advertising partner, including driving increased revenues through driving awareness and marketing, sharing of prospects and partners between companies, as well as developing new revenue-driving assets. Holds third-party advertising partner accountable to contract terms and revenue expectations.
Responsible for the general information about the business partner opportunities and programs on all marketing materials.
Develops custom thought leadership opportunities to increase sponsorship support that work in coordination with the strategic objectives of NACAS, the NACAS Foundation, the NACAS Business Partner Advisory Group, and the NACAS Regions.
Chairs the NACAS Business Partner Advisory Group and meets as needed to get feedback on NACAS’ business partner experiences.
Provides direction to the customer service team for any business partner related questions or requests.
Participates in the NACAS and NACAS Regional annual conferences as necessary related to business partner relations.
Responsibilities - Management
Provides direct management of all marketing staff, including NACAS’ Director of Marketing & Communications and third-party marketing & branding agency.
Determines resources and needs for outsourced promotional video production and creative assets.
Provides thought leadership and mentoring to all direct reports.
Oversees the Sales & Marketing expense budget.
Works side by side with the CEO on the development and implementation of the strategic vision of the organization.
This role is a member of the Association’s leadership team.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required and minimum of 5 years of direct business development and marketing experience, preferred in association/non-profit/higher education or related industry.
Track record of growing an organization’s sales and sponsorship/partnership revenues year-over-year.
Excellent knowledge of digital marketing (to include retargeting, SEO, and social media)and strategic communications trends and strategies.
Strong relationship management and strategic partnership experience.
Strong understanding, or the ability to develop a strong understanding, of auxiliary services in higher education.
Proven results as a self-motivated leader with excellent negotiation skills.
Possess strong organizational skills, superior strategic thinking, and leadership skills; and knowledge of fundraising and sponsorship development strategies to support higher education association meetings and events.
Entrepreneurial and self-starting attitude and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
Ability to problem solve; strong analytical skills, proficient written, and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and databases/customer relationship management tools.
Ability to travel to represent NACAS at professional conferences, leadership meetings, and in the normal course of fundraising and sponsorship development activities.
