General Summary

The Manager of Environmental Compliance is a part of ISRI’s Governmental Relations team and provides support on relationships with key federal regulatory agencies, monitoring and guidance on federal and state regulatory programs, and assistance with environmental compliance. The Manager reviews and stays current on both state and federal environmental regulatory activity and provides pertinent regulatory information to the ISRI membership. The Manager acts as a steward for assigned ISRI environmental guidance documents.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

·        Develop and update guidance documents as assigned, but primarily for environmental compliance, including developing and updating related publications.

·        Provide compliance assistance (primarily environmental) to members as needed and communicate that information to relevant ISRI staff.

·        Review and provide written updates to changes in regulatory information.

·        Interact with ISRI membership staff concerning compliance issues, including but not limited to concerns and needs of chapters.

·        Publish articles and updates in Scrap News, EHS Update, ISRI’s Advocacy Report and other industry publications.

·        Support development of content for ISRI’s website and social media.

Job Specifications

1.      Possess a strong working knowledge of U.S. federal and state environmental regulatory requirements.

2.      Ability to remain current and research regulation and policy.

3.      Ability to interpret and summarize regulatory information quickly and accurately to a diverse audience.

4.      Excellent oral and written communication skills.

5.      Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

6.      Able to travel domestically (25-50% of the time) and occasionally on short notice.
