The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) is seeking an experienced association professional to be a strategic partner and make key decisions for the organization in consort with the Board of Directors. Are you ready to assume this position and help the Society meets the needs of the members and continue to strategically guide the organization into the future? Do you possess the skill to collaborate and motivate other professionals? In this position, you will lead a dedicated team of professionals who support the mission of this nonprofit society.
STLE was founded in 1944. The society isthe premier technical society serving the needs of more than 15,000 individuals and 250 companies and organizations that comprise the tribology and lubrication engineering business sector. Our members are employed by the world's leading corporations and academic institutions and by governmental agencies dealing with science and technology. STLE supports these distinguished men and women with a variety of professional education and certification programs.
Responsibilities include:
Implementation of the Society’s strategic plan
Manage staff and operations of the Society.
Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee as well as Board committees.
Manage the society team members including recruitment, hiring and training.
Develop an organization structure that supports the core functions of the Society – marketing, sales/membership, member services, communications, fund raising, legal/finance and accounting.
Develop an annual financial plan and budget for Board approval.
Represent STLE at industry events and related association events including academia
Develop and maintain effective written internal and external organizational communications, both directly and through delegation to appropriate staff, consultants, members and volunteers.
Publish a periodic trade journal for the Society.
Manage the organization’s events that include local, regional and national meetings for the members
Work in coordination with the volunteer executive committee leadership to further the interests of the society.
Create and maintain a customer service focused culture amongst staff and volunteer leaders to attain the goal of keeping member interests, community and the value proposition (Connect-Learn-Achieve) as the top priority.
Manage the STLE-owned real estate.
Qualified candidates for his position should possess the following:
Undergraduate degree from accredited university.
Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential preferred.
Transparent and high integrity leadership, preferably with cross-functional general management awareness and breadth
Five plus years senior nonprofit management experience
Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
Ability to convey a vision of STLE’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and members
Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and volunteers
Strong written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
