Salary
The pay for this position ranges from $120,000 to $135,000 based on experience and qualifications.

About the Role The Marketing Director’s primary responsibility is maximizing AIHA’s marketing and strategic communication activities in the most efficient and effective manner possible. It requires collaboration with AIHA volunteers and staff and covers areas including marketing, communications, public relations, and website/digital/social media development for all AIHA products, services, and activities. This position will report to Managing Director, Meetings and Outreach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing
Supervises the overall marketing priorities of AIHA
Ensures that AIHA marketing efforts are centralized, well-coordinated and executed based on industry best-practices.
Participates in activities to identify existing and new markets, track marketing efforts, and ensure AIHA-wide branding.
Oversees the development and coordination of marketing strategies, plans, campaigns, and analytics for all areas of the organization.
Communications
Manages Communications team and their efforts in areas of public relations and communications content to coordinate communications across all forms of media.
Develops communication strategies and works internally and externally to execute.
Oversees all public relations activities and coordinates with external vendors, volunteers, and staff.
Working with staff, manages all video projects.
Ensures that messages a re clear, thorough, on brand, and preserve the organization’s image.
Ensures all communication strategies are aligned with AIHA’s best practices and procedures and adhere to AIHA’s guidelines and standards.
Web
Working with responsible staff members, oversees the functionality, design, and content of the AIHA website.
Oversees implementation and maintenance of web taxonomy and search engine optimization (SEO).
Social Media
Working with responsible staff members, responsible for developing and overseeing AIHA’s social media strategy.
Works closely with vendors and/or staff directly engaged in AIHA’s social media presence to ensure effective use of these vehicles as marketing, communication, engagement, and community-building tools.
Additional Areas
Primarily responsible for the compliance to and evolution of the AIHA brand and branding strategy across the enterprise.
Primarily responsible for development, extraction, and tracking of AIHA product-specific and membership survey and research efforts, including developing systematic ways to coordinate, analyze, present, and use data collected.
Develop, monitor, analyze, and report metrics to ensure marketing and communication efforts are meeting or exceeding goals.
Financial
Develop entrepreneurial and innovative approaches to Marketing and Communications to ensure financial success.
Develop a strong value proposition.
Oversee, negotiate, select, and monitor numerous vendors
Develop and manage the budget for relevant departments, with input from team. Collaborate with other teams on budgeting needs related to marketing and communication efforts.
Work with staff to develop accurate projections, monitor income and expenses, and ensure the maintenance of accurate and detailed records.
Work with staff to execute, monitor, and oversee performance on relevant contracts and ensure compliance to contractual requirements.
Supervisory
Create and maintain a first-class staff team including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving concerns.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and all applicable laws.
Effectively and thoroughly communicate short and long-term goals as well as shared vision with direct and indirect reports.
Develop direct reports through personal development plans and cross-functional assignments, delegate projects and responsibilities for achieving goals to staff.
Provide action-oriented guidance and support.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Masters degree in marketing, communications, MBA or other related field preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Required:
Minimum of 15 years related experience and/or training
At least 5 years of supervisory experience
A deep understanding and proficiency with traditional and new marketing techniques; ability to create and implement strategic marketing plans that are considered to be “best practices.”
Advanced knowledge in web-based solutions and social media.
Demonstrated ability to craft vision and strategy and make it come to life with actionable plans.
Change agent who can drive improvements while building strong internal and external relationships.
Preferred:
At least 7 years’ work or volunteer experience in professional membership organization or association
Working familiarity with Adestra, SharpSpring, and/or Feathr

Travel Travel may be required for this position. None is anticipated at this time; however, participation in our annual conference will be considered for future years.
Remote Work & Residency Requirement This position is eligible to work remotely up to 5 days per week. From time to time, staff are required to come into the office based on business needs, generally one time per month; however, it may be more frequent.
Based on our business set-up and to maximize remote work opportunities, AIHA only employs individuals who live in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia. AIHA does not cover the costs associated with relocating.
